Administration
Headmaster
Welcome to Miami Valley Christian Academy (MVCA)!
MVCA stands for excellence in education in a Christ-centered environment. Our
educational goals are derived from a biblical Christian philosophy of education.
Small class size and support programs challenge student potential.
Students are encouraged to think critically in order to be able to make moral
decisions about life and act on them as godly servant-leaders. Many
opportunities are provided for student public performance through the fine arts
and in speech competitions. MVCA lays a foundation for a future college-prep
plan of study.
The MVCA teachers and staff help children "grow up into Him (Christ) in all
things," Ephesians 4:15; that is, come to know Christ personally and learn to
honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ spiritually, intellectually, socially,
and physically.
We refer to MVCA as "God's School" and this is not just a cute phrase, but
something we firmly believe. We pray that all we do is from the guidance
of the Holy Spirit, and follows the biblical calling to love and serve.
With His help, we continue to "prepare minds and hearts to impact the world for
Christ!"
Mr.
Matthew Long
Headmaster, MVCA
mlong@mvca-oh.com
Background of our Headmaster
God leads us on many different paths and gives us
wonderful experiences in order to prepare us to serve Him.
Matthew was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and
attended 12 years of Catholic school. However, he never felt
a personal relationship with the Lord until Palm Sunday 1990
at a white clapboard Congregational Church in New England
where his future wife had brought him to service. That day,
the Lord became real to him and his life started to take on
a purpose greater than anything he had experienced before.
Matthew has a B.A. in Economics from Pace University in New
York, and is a graduate of the Presbytery of Cincinnati's
Lay Pastoral Program. He served as the Pastor of the
Georgetown Presbyterian Church for 4 years immediately prior
to accepting his call to MVCA.
His business experience includes 25 years with Citigroup
serving in various roles including Vice President in
Operations. Matthew has traveled extensively and has been on
5 of the 7 continents.
Matthew and his wife Claire have two daughters who attend
the Academy.
Elementary School
Principal
It is an extremely exciting time to be at MVCA. We have
simultaneously built a high school and renovated our
elementary building. Both of these projects have been funded
by a series of miracles. You cannot look at a project of
this magnitude without seeing the hand of God. What better
place to be than where God is at work?
Jane
Shepherd Stuart, Ed.D.
Elementary
Principal, MVCA
JStuart@mvca-oh.com
Background of our Elementary School Principal
Dr. Stuart began her
professional career as a middle-school classroom teacher.
Her hands-on collaborative approach to instruction
contributed to the public inner-city school’s change in
academic “decline” rating to that of “awards”.
Accepting
a corporate role, Jane spent the following five years as the
Senior Instructional Designer and Usability Specialist at
Bridge Worldwide™. As a thought-leader in the training
industry, Jane conceptualized and communicated strategic
learning solutions including the curriculum and
instructional methods for a variety of training projects.
These highly interactive designs are currently being used
for corporate training and e-commerce initiatives. During
this time Jane published various proprietary whitepapers and
articles as well as The
Design and Use of Strategies in Face-to-Face and Online
Instruction.
Responding to God’s calling to return to the educational
setting, Jane began her career at MVCA teaching
middle-school mathematics while filling the role of
Assistant Principal and Curriculum Director. The last four
years were spent developing the academy’s high school
curriculum and an academy-wide mentoring program. Jane was
instrumental in writing the state approved school charter.
Called by God into servant leadership, Jane now serves the
academy as the elementary principal.
Over
and above holding a masters and doctorate degree in
Curriculum and Instruction, most recently Jane has completed
the required Educational Leadership coursework opening the
door for her to apply for an Ohio Principal Licensure. Her
expertise in models of instruction, educational technology
and leadership culminates years of professional and academic
achievements.
Jane
and her husband, Bryant, worship at the Blue Ash Church of
God and have 4 adult children and 9 grandchildren.
High School Principal
We are very excited about the new high school. We are calling it the High School of the Future. Because our school will be completely new, young and small, we can take all the good ideas in education that have been proven through research and structure our school to implement them.
The facility will also be closely connected with the community, another key to success. Students will receive credit to participate in community service and job shadowing programs.
Mr. Mike Hall
High School Principal, MVCA
mhall@mvca-oh.com
Background of our High School Principal
Mr. Hall comes to MVCA having recently served as Principal of Anderson High School. With his 30 years of education experience, he brings leadership to designing the curriculum, hiring qualified teachers, and guiding the Academy through the chartering and
accreditation process.
After receiving his B.S. in Science and a Master of Education, he gained experience as a coach, teacher, and superintendent before becoming a principal. Mr. Hall has accomplished much throughout his career. He has several publications on drug prevention and has been recognized by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for his contributions to the Sports Drug Awareness Program. Also under his leadership he brought Anderson High School to recognition by the U. S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School.
MVCA counts it a great blessing to have Mr. Hall leading our high school and we are looking forward to his continued successes as he leads our Academy.
